Here we go Friday!!!

Good Afternoon - 

Well we have arrived at the weekend, phew!  What a week!  The kids have been working hard.  Monday's rehearsal was very successful with Shrek and Donkey and THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES for your flexibility with the snow day issues for our Dragon and Dance corps rehearsal.   Add 13 inches of snow or more in places, a Concert Grande evening, and a couple singing all cast rehearsals and this week has been VERY FULL!

The Dragon rehearsal (with a few old men/knights has been added) to Tuesday next week 3-5PM this is a make up from the snowed out rehearsal.

Everything else is the same and a reminder there are no rehearsals on Thursday or Friday next week because of early release and in-service on Friday.

It's Friday!

Here we are week two into the musical and a few things have begun to come together.

The voices in this play are so strong, Wednesday and Thursday's performances we just beautiful.  The harmonies make the groups sound much older than their 12-14 years of age.  People walking by poked their heads in to check and see what was up, and truth be told probably to see if it wasn't a recording, they really sounded pretty incredible (if I do say so myself).

Rehearsal today is more of the same and rehearsals next week take place on M, W, TH & F with no rehearsal on Tuesday which is Concert Grande day, our annual 7-8 chorus in conjunction with 9-12th grades.  Should be a great night!

The next ALL CAST rehearsals will be Thursday and Friday 3-5 at the middle school March 16 & 17.

Reminder the t-shirt orders are being submitted at this point, thank you for those orders.  Reminder also the Yankee Candle orders are due Friday the 17th.  Please keep selling if you are interested in contributing.

Once again, many thanks for the contribution to the Bake Sale, the final totals with the contributions students made (with leftovers Monday and Tuesday) was $215.05

Monday UPDATE

Hi there -

First let me start by saying you all rock!  We had very successful bake sale and raised on donations alone just over 200.00 dollars and considering there were about 100 people there, I was impressed!  This will help defray the cost of the body mics and for that I am very grateful.  The remainder will be sold for $.50 tomorrow and we will raise a few more dollars toward that goal.  THANKS A MILLION!

Thank you to Lara and Lisa who came and stayed for that morning shift so that my Glee kids and I could perform before the start of the Town Meeting much appreciated.

I wanted to put your hearts and minds at ease and send along a link to the t-shirt order form because it seems there are still quite a few that missed the deadline for that and I want to be sure everyone that wants a t-shirt can get one.  They are a great advertising tool and team-builder as well so I encourage everyone to get a couple for the family (we have youth sizes too).  I will email this document to my hmms musical list stay tuned!

Thanks so much for your outpouring of support and kind words surrounding this process, I can tell this is a special bunch already!

I have adjusted the schedule to meet the needs of our choreographer who is skyping in from RI and I have also tried to clarify the schedule so that it is clear who is to be here and when.  There is one week at the beginning of April I have left open right now because I would like to see what we need to work on before scheduling that week.  Thank you for your patience with that!

First week of fun complete...

Good Morning -

Well two days of rehearsal fun behind us and here are some of the things we accomplished and some important things to note:

• Most everyone has been measured!  HOORAY! 
• We clarified who was in what number (still subject to change) but closer...
• We talked about teamwork and expectations for the group and for the most part the kids seemed receptive.
• We read through with guide vocals the first day and read through without guide vocals the second day.
• We laughed - A LOT!  It's a funny show.
• We learned it is difficult music and we are shaping the schedule around having some specific instruction for learning notes of this particular music.
• ALL CAST can find the MUSIC for the show on YouTube if they type in any of the musical selections and Shrek Jr. they can practice their parts.
• The website, is hmmsmusical.blogspot.com (you probably knew that since you're here) 
• You can make a shortcut on your phone by pressing the arrow up button in the middle of your search screen and clicking add to homepage.  It's a really useful tip, take it from me, a single mom with too many schedules to think on most days, it's my favorite function, you can even save explicitly the calendar piece or you can share with your phone's calendar the HMMS MUSICAL calendar piece since it was created through Google Calendar.
• The calendar is NOT SET IN STONE.  Part of creating a musical or anything theater is the creativity and being able to recognize what needs work and adjusting as needed is a part of that.  
• We want to use your child's time and yours the best we can so please be patient and flexible with the process.  I (we) will try to have every week nailed down by Thursday of the previous week.  I have placeholders in there now.  That may change it may not.  
• I am trying to still attend my monthly meetings required of my teaching position this year that is why some weeks only have two or three rehearsals.  
• The most important weeks are the weeks following April break you will see these are all cast and crew, that will not change (if anything they might go longer) please plan appointments accordingly and let me know in advance for any potential conflicts.
• I can't thank you enough for the help with the bake sale this weekend, Barb Farnsworth for creating the Signup Genius, but the outpouring of bake sale goods and coffee stuffs was incredible and so fast so THANK YOU!
• Don't forget the Yankee Candle Fundraiser going on through March 14th.  
• T-shirt orders are due today.  I will accept them until Monday end of day and that is it.  
• If I do not have your t-shirt order before Monday after school you will miss out on purchasing the t-shirt for this year's show.  
• T-shirts are $15.00
