There are always lessons...

I am so grateful for my cast and their willingness to try new things with me.  This past weekend's event was certainly a learning experience.  I am sorry to those whose children were not seen because of my not fully understanding how the stream was going to happen.  I wish you saw my screen, it was perfect by the end, with those that were performing filling the screen, and I realize now that that isn't what you were able to see, I have learned so much through this asynchronous learning process.  We put out one fire with the sound not coming through consistently and loud enough and ended up creating another hazard...isn't that always the way.  Nevertheless, the process was really more for the kids and on the backside they could see, interact and share this moment with each other and I do believe they enjoyed it!  It filled my heart for sure but my sincere apologies that it didn't translate exactly as intended.

The last piece of the puzzle and to experience their real time singing (this weekend's show was them acting to the rehearsal tracks).  However, I will need their buy in to produce individual singing videos and submit them to me by Thursday the 14th.  I will send the backing tracks via the Musical Google Classroom.  This will give you, and them, one final keep sake with ALL of the submitted videos compiled to produce what has been toted as a virtual chorus experience.

Thank you for bearing with me in this odd musical year...sadly, I think virtual chorus might be a sneak peek at the coming days.  I pray I am wrong, for there is nothing that can replace the community and singing experience together and in person.

I hope everyone is well, that all the moms had a wonderful Mother's Day, and that for better or worse you were able to tune in and enjoy a little of the theater magic on Saturday evening.

Thank you everyone, Kristen Chapman

THANK YOU FOR TONIGHT!!!

Well, it wasn't a perfectly seamless production (live performances rarely are) but thank you so much Aiden Bettwieser for trouble shooting the sound and for my wonderful cast for making it work tonight. It was a lot of fun and I'll go to sleep feeling a little happier for this time we spent together, to include a quarantine cast party, virtual of course! I love you all! <3 Here's to better times ahead and making real life music together again!

Thank you to those that tuned in! Thank you also, Cody for capturing some images from tonight, it almost felt like running the show from the booth.

CELEBRATING WHAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SHOW WEEK...

Good Morning -

Very important if you haven't done so, please take a head shot of your child and email it to me right now, please and thank you, I want a "cast photo compilation" in the yearbook but this can only happen if I have everyone's sweet face in that image.

Also, ON SATURDAY NIGHT MAY 9th (what would have been our closing show) we are going to do a Google Meet live read/sing through of our show.  It will be online, I will be recording the meet.  There are other instructions I will lay out in the Musical Classroom.  Please make sure your child has accepted the invite to the Musical classroom and email me with questions.

Our "show" will begin at 7PM (what would have been the actual time).  Hair and makeup isn't required but if you are so inclined to feel fancy and have good lighting please do anything to make it feel special.

We will be staying online (those that can) following the show to catch up and to have a "cast party" to say thanks and share out what we missed most and also to wish our 8th graders the best.

It is not ideal, none of this is.  It is my hope that in doing this we can at least feel like we had something special and unique to our cast.  This is a year I will never forget, though I would like to forget the angst all of this has caused everyone :(!!!

Thanks for checking in and sharing this information with those not on Facebook.

See you all online, much love, Ms. Chapman
